Registering New Domains
NEW domain names must be registered before
they can be hosted. Go to: http://www.networksolutions.com
and register your new domain name. Use
the Network Solutions domain search to
confirm that the domain name you wish
to purchase is not already owned by another
party. When making your purchase, be sure
to select Domain Name Only. Note that
Network Solutions charges $35.00 for the
first year and then $20.00 per year to
renew. Registered domains are payable
by credit card on their secure Web site.
Enter all the information required to
list yourself (or your company) as the
Administrative Contact and the Billing
Contact.
Dexter Broadband must be listed as your
Technical Contact when filling out the
Web form. To do this, enter DO1167
(D as in David,
O as in Omega 1167)
in the NIC HANDLE field of the form. Use
the following DNS servers for Dexter Broadband
to host your Web site.
Primary Server Hostname NS.FASTLYNX.NET
Primary Server Address 65.175.90.2
Secondary Server Hostname NS.FASTLYNX.com
Secondary Server Address 65.175.90.3
To reduce the likelihood
of errors, we recommend you copy/paste
these names or IP numbers from this page
directly into the InterNIC form. Any errors
in these names or numbers will make your
Web site unreachable on the internet.
Modify an Existing Domain
If you used Network Solutions, Inc. to
register your domain name, you may return
to Network Solutions Domain Modification
Site to modify the Technical Contact and
DNS servers for your domain. (If you used
a registrar other than Network Solutions,
please follow their own procedures to
make the necessary modifications).
At the link above, enter your e-mail
address and domain name to go to the online
modification form. In the Web form, substitute
DO1167 in place of the current Technical
Contact NIC HANDLE. Enter the two host
servers and addresses (as shown above)
in place of the ones currently listed.
Submit the form for processing.
The form you just created in the previous
step will be e-mailed to you. The e-mail
form must now be officially submitted
(reply to, or forwarded), by e-mail, to
hostmaster@networksolutions.com for processing,
as per the instructions in the e-mail
form.
Once the request for modification form
has been submitted, via e-mail, Network
Solutions will send an e-mail to the address
of the Administrative Contact (owner of
the domain) requesting approval of the
modification. This extra step in the procedure
is to protect you from having your domain
modified by anyone but the true owner
of the domain. The approval e-mail must
be replied to from the original e-mail
address on file for the Administrative
Contact with "Mail-From" as
the answer to question (0a.) and "YES"
as the answer to question (1a.).
Once the approval e-mail is submitted,
Network Solutions will send you a confirmation
as soon as the modification is processed.
